Money raised to date
We have now raised over £90,000 for the Appeal. This consists of three grants from Grant Making Bodies (GMBs), income from the Appeal Events during 2018, and donations from the congregation and well-wishers.
At a PCC meeting on 24 January 2019, it was agreed that the Appeal should have access to a further £100,000 of church funds. The main reason for doing this is that many of the GMBs to whom we are applying for a grant, take note that we have an excess of free reserves in our accounts, and are inclined to turn down our application because of this.
Last week we were given £5,000 from Wiltshire County Council in the form of a Community Grant, which we shall use to pay for some of the chairs that we will order later in the year. We are very grateful for this financial support from the County.
We have spent £31,000 on professional fees and publicity to date.
So, including pledges of income, we have just over £300,000 towards the total costs of £471,000 necessary to complete the work involved in the restoration of the Doom painting, cleaning part of the ceiling and repairing the clerestory, as well as the completion of the three stages of Redevelopment work. [A reminder that Stage 1 is the replacement of the pews with benches and chairs, Stage 2 is the installation of the new altar and dais, and Stage 3 is the installation of the new font].
The remaining money will come from more planned Appeal Events, grants from GMBs, sponsorship and donations. We have submitted six applications for funds to GMBs, and look for decisions on these in the next few months. It is very important that we are able to demonstrate in these applications that a large percentage of the congregation are supporting the Appeal financially.
One exciting development in the last few weeks is that it is now possible to donate online via our website. Under the ‘Appeal’ heading, you can scroll down to the ‘DONATE’ button and follow the route to our Donations page, which is hosted by Wonderful.org, a charity-giving website like Justgiving, and we incur no charges by using this means of donating. Try it! Thank you to our hard-working Website Editor Steve Hoffman for this new facility.
