Learn and grow with us

Different study and prayer groups can help you to deepen and grow your faith and enjoy the company of others. Here are some of the groups that meet to pray, learn and share fellowship regularly.

The Palmer Group

Palmer Groups at St Thomas engage with the journey of faith through discussion of what the Bible says, what it means and how it might apply to our lives today. These groups meet weekly on Tuesdays during term-time, one in the afternoon and another in the evening. Although we use a structure for the groups, we are more a Bible and practical faith discussion group than a formal Bible study group.

The name Palmer Group comes from an alternative name for pilgrim. A palmer was a pilgrim, particularly one who had returned from the Holy Land with a palm branch or leaf as a sign of having undertaken the pilgrimage. The groups are open to anyone on this journey, whether they are just starting out or whether they’ve been there, done that and got the palm leaf.
