The Rector heads a team of full- and part-time clergy supported by two churchwardens and the Parish Administrator, who works out of the Parish Office in nearby St Thomas’s Square. Here are some details about them and how to contact them.

The Rev’d Canon Kelvin Inglis, Rector

The Rev’d Canon Kelvin Inglis was licensed and installed as Rector of St Thomas’s in July 2017 and made canon of Salisbury Cathedral in 2020. He was previously vicar of Whitchurch with Tufton and Litchfield in the diocese of Winchester.

The Rev’d Selina Deacon, Associate Priest

After training as a nurse at another St Thomas’s (hospital in London) Selina was widowed after 11 years of marriage. She moved to Shaftesbury with her three daughters, where she worked until 2000. After her ordination training, she was curate in Westbury and served 10 years in the ministry in Trowbridge. After retiring to Salisbury in 2017, she became a chaplain at the cathedral and Salisbury Hospital and joined the St Thomas’s team in 2019. Two border terriers, a garden, daughters and grandchildren keep her busy in what spare moments she has.

Peter Horwood, Churchwarden

After a lifetime London career in advertising and promotion, Peter retired to Salisbury 10 years ago and has been an active member of St Thomas’s Church for nine years. Peter is a member of various St Thomas’s committees concerning the Quest Appeal, church communications and the yearly Christmas Tree Festival. Peter is also involved in other aspects of the Salisbury City community including work for The Salisbury Foodbank, of which he is a Trustee, and committee positions on City cultural organisations.

Brenda Whitehead, Churchwarden

A resident of Salisbury since 1971, Brenda has worshipped at St Thomas’s since 2008. She thoroughly enjoyed her career teaching 7-8 year old children for 40 years. At St Thomas’s she helped to organise the Christmas Tree Festival for five years and now helps at coffee mornings, She sings in a local choir, is a volunteer gardener at Salisbury Museum and a member of Sarum U3A. She has two daughters and six grandchildren and enjoys being with them and walking on the beach, as well as reading detective novels and books about people.

Meryl Browning, Parish Manager

Meryl has worked in the parish office since 2016, where she indulges her passion for filing and attempting to bring order out of chaos. She is a life-long bookworm and proud tree-hugger, and enjoys spending time walking and gardening.
